In line with Leicestershire PCSOs being designated new traffic powers, our #ValleyBeat PCSOs are currently planning Fatal 4 operations across the beat to put these powers to good use.

What is the Fatal 4?

Fatal 4 refers to the following 4 factors which have been found to be the main cause of fatal Road Traffic Collisions.

Person not wearing a seatbelt.

Speed

Drink or Drugs

Mobile Device Use

What are PCSOs NEW traffic Powers?

PCSOs in Leicestershire now have the power do deal with the following traffic offences:

The power to enforce no seatbelt offences.

The power to enforce no MOT offences.

The power to enforce speeding offences.

The power to enforce unessicary obstruction of the highway offences.

The power to enforce offence of mobile phone when in control of a vehicle.

The power to stop motor vehicles.

The power to require production of a driving licence.

The power to require production of a valid insurance & test certificate.

The power to seize a motor vehicle with no insurance.

The power to report for the offence of driving otherwise in accordance with a licence.

These, along side with our previously designated traffic powers, will enable us to be more pro-active in making our roads a safer place for everyone.
